This juried contest, open
to all ages and skill levels, will encourage entrants to photograph
things unique to Oregon City. At the end of the 150 days, we will
have a photography show in Oregon City to display the entries and award
prizes to the winners. |

This is a free contest with no entry
fees. Contestant must be a resident of Oregon City, attend school or conduct
business within Oregon City.

Photo subject matter is of photographs
taken within the city limits of Oregon City, of nature and events for a
stated time period. This contest is meant to cover all celebratory events
and seasons from the beginning of our 150 days of celebration on February 14th
until its end on July 25, 2009. The categories describe the kinds of
photographs that this contest covers.

All entries will be returned. However,
the City of Oregon City reserves the right to use the images for promotion
and publicity on the city website and in brochures. Your signature on the
entry form provides that release. In cases of close-up photos of faces, all
entries must include a media release for people pictures, signed by the
individual(s) photographed. (Media will be available shortly.)

Entries will be accepted Thursday July
30, 2009 and Friday July 31, 2009, noon to 5:00 pm. Contestants with
numerous entries MUST BE IN CITY HALL at least one hour before entries
close.

Limit of FIVE black and white, and FIVE
color prints per contestant.

Contestant must complete an entry form
for each entry that provides the Division and Category, name, address and
whether junior or adult. No entry will be accepted without a completed form.

This contest is open to all digital and
film prints by non-professional photographers residing in Oregon
City. A non-professional is one, who by training and exhibition experience
does not obtain principal income from photography or selling photographic
work.

The contestant must have taken all
entries, and must be able to show proof of ownership of a certain print, if
so requested.

All prints must be mounted
on posterboard or foamboard material of 1/8” thickness. Thicker material
must be supplied with plastic hangers. Overall size of mount shall be 8x10”
and not more than 16x 20”. Minimum size of print is 5x7”. Only one picture
on each mount. Prints in wood, metal or plastic
frames will not be accepted. No glass or any type of frame is allowed.

Contestant's name must not be visible on
the front of print or the mount.

All entries will be judged prior to the
exhibition.

At the time of this announcement, the
venue for display of the winners has not yet been determined. At such time
as the venue(s) are determined, all reasonable care will be exercised to
safeguard the entries. However, neither the City of Oregon City, nor any
individual will be responsible for loss of or damage of any entry from any
cause.

As many prints as possible complying
with conditions will be hung, space permitting. Depending upon the number of
entries, it may be limited to only the top winners and honorable mentions.

Juniors may not compete in similar
classes in both junior and adult classes.

Juniors are defined as 17 years and
under. Adults are 18 years and over.

Submission of entries implies
contestant’s acceptance of the rules.

Winning contestants will receive
placement ribbons. Additionally winning photographs will be placed on
display, with appropriate credit given to the photographers.

These are initial rules to get citizens
interested. These rules may be adjusted, altered or added to, as issues are
clarified, or dates are changed.

Category Awards:
1st, 2nd, 3rd Place and Honorable Mention in
each category.
Judges Choice Awards:
Three special ribbons will be given for Judges Choice Awards.
People’s Choice Award:
A special award to the winner of the People’s Choice Award. Visitors to the
exhibition will be encouraged to vote for the photograph of their choice. Voting
will take place during the first week of exhibition. The People’s Choice Award
will be on special display with the exhibition and at Oregon City’s City Hall.
More Awards by Sponsors may be announced at
a later date.
